PDF to EPUB (pdf2epub.danielkoryat.com) converts PDF files into e-books and improves EPUB files. It is run by Daniel Koryat. Questions and requests: [email protected].
What we collect
- Your Google account basics, when you sign in with Google: your name, e-mail address and profile picture. We never see your Google password and ask for no other access to your Google account.
- Without signing in (as a guest), your library is tied to a cookie in your browser. The free pages for guests are shared by everyone on the same network, so we keep the network address each upload came from (an IPv4 address, or the network part of an IPv6 address) to count them. Before a guest library is created, Cloudflare Turnstile checks that the browser is not a bot.
- The files you upload and the books we make from them, with the details you edit (title, author, chapters).
- Usage: how many pages you converted and when, for the monthly page allowance.
- Security records: when you sign in, upload, download or delete a book, we record the time, your IP address, the country it belongs to and your browser's name. These records protect the service and your account against abuse.
- Product analytics, when enabled: we use PostHog (EU region) to count which features are used (for example "book uploaded", with the file type and size). Book titles, file names and file contents are never sent to it. Screen recording is off.
What we do with it
We use this information only to run the service: to convert your files, keep your library, apply the page allowance, prevent abuse, and understand which features are used so we can improve them. We do not sell or rent personal information, do not use your books for anything other than converting them for you, and do not use them to train any model. Your books are private to your account; not even the site's administrators can open them through the site.
Where it is kept and who processes it
- Files and the database are stored on a server at Oracle Cloud in Toronto, Canada.
- Cloudflare carries the traffic to the site and protects it against attacks.
- Google handles the sign-in.
- Cloudflare Turnstile runs the browser check for guests.
- PostHog (EU) receives the product analytics described above, when they are enabled.
Cookies
One cookie keeps you signed in, or keeps your guest library. It is required for the site to work. When product analytics are enabled, PostHog sets its own cookie to tell visits apart.
How long we keep it
Your books stay in your library until you delete them; deleting a book removes its files from the server. Your account stays until you ask us to delete it. Then we delete your profile, your books and their files. Security records are kept to protect the service. They cannot be changed after they are written, so they stay after an account is deleted. Database backups are kept for up to 14 days. When a guest signs in with Google, the guest library's books move into the account.
Your rights
You can ask for a copy of your information, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete your account. Write to [email protected] from the e-mail address you sign in with. You can also remove the site's access in your Google account settings at any time.
Children
The service is not meant for children under 16.
